Hi Aimee
Have you had much luck? Unfortunately, I don't have a full class period left with my kids after the final exam tomorrow.
Is it something kids could do independently? Perhaps I can give it to them as an extra credit project.
Hi Carolee -
Thanks so much for getting back in touch. It is something they could do independently for extra credit and we would really appreciate your help. Here are the details:
The American Association for the Advancment of Science has developed an e-book about the science of how alcohol affects adolescent bodies, teaching students that alcohol affects multiple body systems and can harm the developing brain.
The research would include:
All of the testing can be done online, and of course we would protect the anonymity of all the students. The e-book and material contained in it is linked to science standards developed by AAAS and other leading science education providers.
The e-book is part of a AAAS project entitled the Science Inside Alcohol and is funded by the National Institutes of Health. It’s a multi-pronged effort to teach parents, students and teachers the science of how alcohol can damage the adolescent body.
Here is a link to the e-book http://www.sciencenetlinks.com/alcohol/ebook2/pages/human-body.htm and the research questions can be found at http://www.sciencenetlinks.com/alcohol/survey.php.
As a thank-you we can give your school sets of award winning science and health books. Please let me know as soon as you can and thanks so much for following up. I know we're very close to the end of the school year and it's a busy time.
Best Regards,
Aimee
