Middle School Portal

the network for middle school math and science teachers

I'm trying to find free resources to help teachers plan lessons/activities they can use during a short intervention period for students identified in Tier 2. There are a number of elementary sites and activities, but its been a struggle finding middle school lessons. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Kimberly Crosby

Hi Kimberly - Would you explain what Tier 2 is? Thanks - Kim

Tier 2 would be small group intervention in which a highly qualified teacher delivers math instruction to a group of less than 6 students on specific areas of need in mathematics. Explicit, direct instruction in short spurts in addition to their regular math class. Essentially, the students receiving intervention are below grade level in most of their math skills, and not identified with a specific learning disability.

I'm hoping to find short, concrete lessons that are research or evidence-based to improve math achievement.

Thanks!
Kimberly
