To integrate technology, you need access to the equipment.
So, how do you get the tech to work with?

Toyota Tapestry grants are one great source to enhance a classroom or curriculum. What other options are out there? Can we start to make a list of grants and services available? I know I sure could use the ideas.

Great idea, Karolee! Hmm.....maybe we could start a wiki page that lists grant sources? In the meantime, one source for info is eSchool News. Every issue lists grants and deadlines. Not all are tech-specific, but many are.
Mary - That is exactly what I was thinking - let's start a page so we can update the information when we hear about new items of interest. In addition maybe we can find a calendar widget that we could include deadlines on - I think using the events page might get messy.

What would be the most helpful in terms of how the page should be constructed? Ideas? Kim
I went ahead and started the Getting Grants page and added it to the MSP2 Resources box on the Main Page. Now we need to start adding opportunities!
Karolee, this is a great question!

When I first read it, I thought I had seen a grants section in one of the technology magazines I receive. However, I can't find it now. Perhaps I can find something.

HP Technology for Education Grants - I first learned of these at NECC when teacher winners of these grants did "Poster Sessions" highlighting the work they had done with their grant funds. http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/grants/us/programs/tech_teaching/?jumpid=r...

SMART Technologies - Grants and Funding
This page has information on the SMARTer Kids Foundation, guidelines on how to write a grant, a list of sources of grants, and suggestions for how to find matching funding for grants.

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) offers funding ideas in the Educational Resources section of its website.

There are many opportunities for funding. Perhaps others will find some to share.
This isn't a grant, but it is a great opportunity. I have been working with my local SMART representative on a program they have for districts/schools who do not have any SMART technologies. They have a program called the SMART SEED PROGRAM. I was able to get 4 SMART Boards to try for 4 months. If the schools want to keep them they will pay $750 plus $98 shipping. It is a great opportunity for schools who do not have any SMART products to purchase IWB's and other SMART products. Call your local SMART representative to find out more information.
