Hi everyone!

I'd like to get our conversations in this group going, as promised.  I just posted a blog item from eSchoolNews about 10 ways schools are using social media tools effectively.  Lots of up for debate there no doubt, so I am hoping we will!

Dear Integrating Technology Group Members,

I am hoping to re-start group activity and will be working on facilitating discussions on technology related topics of interest in the coming weeks. 

I hope you will join me in making this a vibrant community that engages in rich and productive discussions!

My first order of business is finding out two things:

1.  What technology related topics are you looking for/need information on?  These may be topics we discuss within this group, and/or the MSP2 staff may organize webinars on these topics for the MSP2 community at large.

2.  What topics would YOU be interested in sharing your expertise with the group (and the MSP2 community at large)? For e.g., this could occur via a webinar, blog post or other related activity within MSP2.

Please let me know your thoughts, I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Amy, I am a technology educator who loves to integrate the academic subjects into my technology classes. My view is that the computer is a tool, just like a pencil. We need to use it to learn the academic areas, not learn skills in isolation. What are your interests? BTW, Bonnie Bracey Sutton, who was at the breakfast, is an incredible technologist!

I am attending the NMSA Annual Conference and I am at the MSP2 Networking Breakfast. I am a technology integrator helping math and science teachers integrate technology into their classrooms... Are there any other technology educators attending?

Why use Notebook 10? I find it better than Web 2.0 tools as they are completely integrated into the program. Checkout Notebook 10 at SMART and look at the Activity toolkit 2.0.. Amazing for teachers as well as students.

I have worked integrating technology in my classroom for the last 15 years. Starte with the single PC then to a lab, then 2 labs and now we are at the stage where every child in our school district has their own Mac laptop. I use a SMARTboard EVERY day in my room to enhance the interactivity of my math, science, L.A, and social studies lessons. There is little ned ot keep a child on task when they are at the whiteboard writing the notes that we will then save and post on our portal for review later on. Such a powerful way of teching only allows for explorations and diversity in learning. Check our our board site and take a ook at the "Show Your Talent" section. This is where students are encouraged to demonstrate how they can use technology in a sound educational manner.... Enjoy

Thanks, David. I agree! It amazes me when my most "techie teacher friend" threatens to never use his. I cannot imagine!
