Adam, Welcome!

It is so exciting to see pre-service teachers here!! As Dr. Lightle said, the opportunity here goes far beyond fulfilling the requirements for a course.

We "more experienced teachers" (read that - "old birds") have much to learn from the enthusiasm and technical knowledge of you younger teachers. In addition, joining a group and participating in it can give you ideas for using in your teaching and establish contacts that might be beneficial as you seek employment.

Good luck with you!

Hello, Adam,

Welcome to MSP2. Even though joining MSP2 is part of your methods class, I hope you will be willing to participate even beyond the methods class expectations. Members, such as yourself--pre-service teachers--are a great resource to this community. You have a perspective that helps to keep us grounded, curious, and encouraged to continue to grow.

Hope to "hear" your voice on the site!

Again, welcome.

Hi Adam - I know I "made" you join but I hope this experience is a good one for you. I want you to be part of a professional community of educators that runs the gamut - preservice all the way to educators that have had 40 years of experience. I'm hoping that the community will share, create, and learn from each other.

I want to point out some resources that will be helpful as you do your work for 731.20 - look on the Main Page on the left side - MSP2 Resources box. There are science resource guides, Diigo lists, blogs, freeware/shareware pages, and the archived recordings of all of the webinars that we've had so far.

We have lots of upcoming webinars (ones sponsored by MSP2 and other organizations) - click on the Events tab to look at those.

We also have other Groups (click on the Groups tab) that you might be interested in joining (just a suggestion). You can always read the discussions/postings without joining.

I wanted to make sure that you realize that he Middle Childhood Science Methods Course group is a private group so all conversations that you have in that group will be only readable by your classmates. If you comment/post anywhere else on the site - it would be viewable by everyone. Just a heads up!

Looking forward to the rest of the quarter! Please feel free to email me or make an appointment if you have any questions or concerns. Regards, Dr. Lightle
