I don't know if you realize it, but the CSTA conference is coming up soon. And its here in Sacramento. I am already registered and plan on sharing some of the great things I pick up there online here.
Sometimes, the more I write about it, answer questions, and discuss it, the better I wrap my own brain around it and find ways that I might need to tweak it best for my kids. I also find that the more I keep an idea in my head, the more likely I will follow through on it later in the year.
I hope you'll be able to go (carpool?) and help me post ideas.
toodles
Hi Alison - Hope your summer is going well! I wanted to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.
We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim
Welcome, Alison. Love the pic! Sunglasses for all. Yeah!! I just read an article this weekend about eye health (especially as you age--which I'm doing fast and furiously!!). I wish I had known how beneficial sunglasses are earlier in my life (and my children's lives). Oh well....
Anyway...glad you've joined us. I look forward to getting to know you, hearing about your work, discovering how MSP2 can be supportive of you.
Am I right in assuming that you know Karolee already??
Hi Alison
Welcome to MSP2.
Come join our science group. This is a great place to share ideas, get additional ideas, resources and feedback.
Be sure to introduce yourself to the rest of the group too (when you get back in town, of course)
Hi Alison - Welcome to MSP2! We're so glad you joined the network!
We've got lots of resources for middle school science teachers - look at the left side of the Main page - Science Publications, Diigo lists, and two project blogs - Connecting News to the National Science Education Standards and Exemplary Resources for Middle School Math and Science. A third blog - Polar News and Resources might also be interesting to you - it's coming from another of our projects - Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears.
Right now there are three groups - Science, Math, and Integrating Technology - I would encourage you to join one or more and start a conversation. Are there any specific topics or issues you would like to see addressed?
Again, welcome! Jessica
