Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars
Welcome to MSP2! If you are interested, there are three places where you can immediately contribute to this site or take something away. Check out the discussions under forums - Cool Tech Tools, Tips for New Teachers and Science Content Knowledge. There is a great discussion about Integrating Technology, too.
Is there anything I can help you with right now regarding content knowledge or integrating technology?
I see you are a veteran teacher. What is one tip you have for surviving being a new teacher? Please reply to this comment or post under forums "Tips for New Teachers".
There are all kinds of opportunities to learn and share in this professional network, so be sure to look around. On the home page, you can connect to the NSDL site. There are several sites there that can help you in lesson planning, educational strategies, or opportunities to access other resources.
To help connect with people with similar interests, you may want to join groups. Group discussion provide a place for you to share your ideas with others and have some of your own questions answered by your peers. I would love to get more feedback and discussion on science fairs. Please share your thoughts and experiences with us.
There are also events, like the Tech Talks, available. Tech Talks are recorded, so if you miss a one, you can check out the recorded session and add to the discussion boards.
If you need any help or would like to see something added, just let us know.

Welcome to the MSP2 community! So glad you've joined us.
Have you had a chance to explore the site, yet? You'll find lesson ideas, digital resources for classroom use, and connections to current news items. Look at the left side of the Main page and you'll find the MSP2 Resources box with Math and Science Resource Guides as well as information on Getting Grants and Teacher Opportunities. We hope that members of the network (like you) will help us add content to these pages. On the right side of the Main page we have our two project blogs - Resources for Math and Science and Connecting News. We also RSS feed the Teach Engineering blog and two New York Times blog feeds.
We have several webinars every month on a variety of topics - curricular topics, teaching strategies and technology tools for use in the classroom to name just a few. You can get to the archived recordings of those by clicking on the Webinar Archive link. You can also see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We also have a book club that meets periodically, check out the Book Club Group for more information on that.
We're also soon to be adding resources for youth - a series of virtual learning experiences for students. So plenty more to come!
Please send any ideas or feedback you have our way, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
