Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars
Hi Bettina - Wanted to update you on the free webinars we are sponsoring. We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim
Hi Bettina - So glad you joined the MSP2 network. We're just getting started building the social network so any ideas or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! We've got lots of resources for middle school math teachers - look at the left side of the Main page - Math Publications, Diigo lists, and one of our project blogs where we highlight lots of exemplary online math (and science) resources - Resources for Middle School Math and Science.
I see that you clicked on elementary too - we have another project that might be worthwhile for you to check out - not focused on math but it would be great if you shared with your colleagues that do teach science - Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears - Integrating Literacy and Science for K-5 Teachers. Truth be told - lots of middle school teachers use the resource too!
Welcome to MSP2
Please introduce yourself here and lets us know how we can help you. Do you teach math? Science? Do you work in education in another capacity?
I would like to encourage you to explore the site, join groups, and add to discussions. The site is growing and as we get more members, we have more to share.
If you need any help or would like to see something added, just let us know. We are here to help you.
toodles
Welcome, Bettina! The Canadians certainly have a strong showing here on MSP2! I always take it as a good sign that someone joins MSP2 after a friend or colleague has shared the site.
Would you be willing to share a little bit about yourself? What you're hoping to find/gain from being a part of MSP2? What you think you'd like to contribute? What topics you especially enjoy teaching? Any digital tools or Web sites that have helped you out in your teaching?
Please feel free to jump in and explore resources, add comments (even if they're brief!), join discussions (there is a math group), write a blog. It's important that this community provide meaningful support and allow members to build new professional relationships to assist them in their work as teachers.
Please feel free to let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you.
