Hi Camille - Reading huh... We've been doing some work about Reading and Writing in the Content Areas (science resource guides and http://msportal-2.ning.com/page/math-resource-guides) and have a group that has started - Literacy in the Content Areas.

I also wanted to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.

We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim

Hi! I'm so glad I joined too! This site appears to be chock full of resources! I am actually a Reading Teacher who has mostly taught elementary students, but recently switched to the middle schoolers and I'm so glad I did -- they are THE most interesting people on the planet! As a Reading Teacher I like to use the content areas, such as, Science, Social Studies, and the Arts. I have a two WebQuest posted on My-Coach that are science related (one on the Monarch Butterflies and another on Birds). These are the most professional ones I've created and the Monarch is internationally known. My husband and I are members of the Wildlife Conservation Society, better known as the Bronx Zoo, and recently participated in their Tiger Forever webchat on Eluminate. Therefore, I'm looking forward to your discussion later tonight on Tapped In about the Polar Bears and Penguins.

Hi! So glad you decided to join us (and thanks for the email about TappedIn). I see you are Other - what kind of Other? Are there any specific issues you would like to see addressed?

We've got lots of resources for middle school math and science teachers - look at the left side of the Main page - Math and Science Publications, Diigo lists, and two project blogs where we highlight lots of exemplary online math and science resources - Resources for Middle School Math and Science and Connecting News to the National Science Education Standards. We've having some really good discussions about integrating technology and the math group is quite active. You don't say what grade level you teach - we have another project that you might be interested in - Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears - Integrating Literacy and Science for K-5 Teachers.

Truth be told - lots of middle school teachers use the resource too!
