Andrea, thanks for reminding me. I did that as well, of course! Rebecca, I loved your ideas about the presentations and ways to incorporate glogs, flip cameras, etc. Just another example of how we can embed technology in what we do every day!

Great question, Christie! Could you clarify a bit? Are you looking for the "top ten" in terms of - General middle school life? - Academics? - A particular subject? - Relationships? - All of the above?

Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other  content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars

Hi Christie

I wanted to check in and see how its going. Do you have enough information for your site or do you still need help with the "top 10"? I know that no one really answered with a concise prioritized list, but I think many of the main ideas are there. Do you need some more information to help you out? I'll even check with my team to give you a more general response than just my own thoughts if you would like.

Hi, Christie,

Welcome to MSP2. And thanks for posting a question! I hope that you get some good info to assist you. Transition is so important, and too often a topic left to the last minute. Thank you for planning ahead and for making efforts to provide a smooth transition for your students. One of the things we know is that it's important that transition programs involve both sides of the transition (in your case, the elementary and the middle schools). Yet, this is often the most difficult part of the effort.

But back to MSP2 in general...Sarita has given you a summary of what's here. I hope you find the site and its community helpful.
Again, welcome.

Hi Christie,

Welcome to the MSP2 community! So glad you've joined us.

Have you had a chance to explore the site, yet? You'll find lesson ideas, digital resources for classroom use, and connections to current news items. Look at the left side of the Main page and you'll find Math and Science Resource Guides, Diigo lists, and project blogs to name just a few. You'll also see that we have some links in the MSP2 Resources box - Getting Funding, Favorite Blogs, and Freeware/Shareware. We hope that members of the network will help us add content to these pages.

We've had several Tech Talks recently - on Reading in Mathematics, Interactive Notebooks, Diigo, Moodle, Wikis, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link. You can also see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We recently had the first meeting of our book club, check out the Book Club Group for more information on that.

We're also soon to be adding resources for youth - a series of virtual learning experiences for students. So plenty more to come!

Please send any ideas or feedback you have our way, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Sarita
