Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars
Hi Kay - Hope your summer is going well! I wanted to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.
We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim
Have you had a chance to explore the site much? There are several groups and discussions already started that you can join in and share or you can start new ones. We would love to hear from you. You can also introduce yourself here so everyone can learn a bit more about you and your experiences, expertise, and interests.
Wow - you have done it! You sure bring an amazing perspective to any conversation that you join. We've been using web 2.0 tools for a while - and I'm trying to get evaluation data from teachers to see how they can be used in the best possible way - but am having trouble getting any good data - so we continue to muddle through and do the best job we can. I would really appreciated any help you can provide. If you have ideas that you would like to try out - I would love to help you try new things. Talk to you soon, Kim
Welcome, Kay. I agree with Tom. Great picture! Yes, please share a little bit about yourself--what you currently teach, what you love to teach, what prompted you to join MSP2, what you're looking for, hoping to contribute....
HI Kay - So glad you joined the MSP2 network. We're just getting started so any ideas or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! We've got lots of resources for middle school math and science teachers - look at the left side of the Main page - Math and Science Publications, Diigo lists, and three project blogs where we highlight lots of exemplary online math and science resources - Resources for Middle School Math and Science, Polar Research, and Connecting News to the National Science Education Standards. We have another project that you might be interested in - Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears - Integrating Literacy and Science for K-5 Teachers. Truth be told - lots of middle school teachers use the resource too!
I'm always curious what "other" stands for - are you a teacher educator? We have a teacher education group that we'd love you to join.
Welcome - Kim
