Looking for input in Science Curriculum. To meet 21st century needs, we need to enhance our current curriculum by doing away with the "big book". We are looking to using 'Kits" and smaller unit texts (like Pearson's Interactive Science or Holt's Science Fusion) to cover the various topics. We want to address the topics first and then find the best resources/supplies to help us do this. We don't want to be locked into one text. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Any one using SEPUP?

I wanted to tell you a little about MSP2 - we are using this NING network as a place where educators can connect with each other (through answers to profile questions and the advanced Members search) and also as a way to connect educators with exemplary resources and professional development opportunities.
If you look on the Main page - you'll see MSP2 resources in the upper left hand box - we have resource guides where we have sifted and sorted and contextualized resources on topics important to middle school math and science teachers, an archive of all of our past webinars, the ability to search the MSP2 collection, and pages of teacher and student opportunities and grants. Our newest resource guides are Teaching With Trade Books which includes lessons for science AND math classes and Science Misconceptions.
We've got some great upcoming events - check them out in the Events section. We also have a MSP2 Book Club - our next book is Finding Mrs. Warnecke. You can read more about the book and find out when we are meeting by going to the MSP2 Book Club group.
We also have two free webinars on Thursday - one on Reader's Theater and Informational Text and one on Collaborating Classrooms. You can see more information about these in the Events section.
