MSP2 Tech Talk: Moodle for Middle School at Online via Elluminate

August 5, 2009 from 2pm to 2:45pm
Are you looking for a way to interact with your students online? Moodle is designed to help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. It's free, open source, and can be adapted to any learning environment. Create calendars, message boards, resource pages, wikis, surveys, tests, and more. Tom has used Moodle with his 5th-8th graders for the past 3 years to teach science and technology and will share his experiences with this e-learning platform.Facilitator:…See More

Hi Curious George/Joe - So glad you joined the MSP2 network. I wanted to point out that we've got lots of resources for middle school science educators most of which can be used at the high school level too - look at the left side of the Main page - Science Resource Guides, Diigo lists, and project blogs where we highlight exemplary online math and science resources and the research that is going on at the polar regions.

We've had two Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks and one on Moodle in the Middle (hope you did get to participate in the Moodle webinar). You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Webinar Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next two are on Digital Storytelling and Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff!

Any ideas or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome – Kim

Welcome, Joe!

So glad you've joined MSP2 and are going to attend the Moodle Tech Talk. I'm looking forward to learning at the session! I only know about Moodle. Have never used it.

Love the Curious George avatar! I'll take it that you share some of Curious George's winning ways and endearing qualities. : - )

And ah....North Conway! I'm a New Englander at heart (and previous residence). I've back-packed many, many miles through the White Mountains and long to be back in the region.

Anyway...so glad you've stepped into the activity here. See you online Wednesday.

Hi Joe,

I see that you have hopped straight in. Our portal is growing fairly quickly and while all members are great- posting members are what help make this an awesome resource for all of us to use.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Take Care,
Tom
