Hi, Joyce.  Welcome to MSP2.  My district's Science Curriculum Committee and I are trying to work through several of your profile items.  Regarding technology, we have used explorelearning.com and discoveryeducation.com, which you may like.

Check out these links to clever Youtube videos on lab safety:

We're wrestling with conducting labs, with classes of students that are often at different stages, based on measurement topics completed in a standards-based system.  When do you conduct the lab with everyone, hoping those behind will understand what they need to? What labs can be easily set up, as groups are ready? We're beginning to discuss these things.

Good luck to you!

John

Hi Joyce -- Welcome aboard! Let me tell you a little about MSP2 - we are using this NING network as a place where educators can connect with each other (through answers to profile questions and the advanced Members search) and also as a way to connect educators with exemplary resources and professional development opportunities. Please check out our guide to Making the Most of MSP2.

If you look on the Main page - you'll see MSP2 resources in the upper left hand box - we have resource guides where we have sifted and sorted and contextualized resources on topics important to middle school math and science teachers (including science fairs), the ability to search the MSP2 collection, and pages of teacher and student opportunities and grants. We've had quite a few webinars that we've recorded. You can see the archive of all our recordings here - the link is also on the MSP2 homepage.

Please don't hesitate to post a question or comment on a discussion or blog post. We are always looking for topics for webinars too. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! So glad you joined! Kim
