STEM Information for Beginners

Mark Sanders published a great article, STEM, STEM Education, STEMmania in the December/January 2009 issue of The Technology Teacher, which you can access here:  http://www.iteaconnect.org/Publications/AAAS/TTT%20STEM%20Article_1.pdf.He starts off with a little history of how STEM came to be, moves into the differences between STEM programs and STEM schools and then on to integrative STEM.  It's easy to read…See More

Technology for an AMAZING beginning of the school year.

As of today I have 25 days of summer left. I’m not normally a “countdown” person, but I have many changes coming my way which may lead to this school year being my last at teaching middle grades students. Instead of thinking about which filing cabinet holds beginning-of-the-year stuff, I’m wondering how I can “changeitup” to make this school year an AMAZING year for me and my students. From a technology standpoint, what do you do with your students at the beginning of the school year that I may…See More

As a newbie to MSP2 trying to find my way, I’m thinking about all of the new teachers with giddy anticipation also trying to do it all and do it all well! Adding technology to our classes is just one way to be a “cutting-edge” teacher, but how does one get the basics to help them on their path toward technology integration? Alan November, a leader in education technology is not only a teacher’s teacher for both new and seasoned educators, but will have you laughing more than your own class…See More

Hi Karen
Welcome to MSP2!

There are a variety of resources available here, so I recommend you explore the site. Be sure to look at the resources on the home page. The NSDL site will take you to several sites that can help you in lesson planning, educational strategies, or opportunities to access other resources. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas to share, you can add those to the discussion boards.

There are also events you might be interested in. Events are recorded, so if you miss a one, you can check out the recorded session and add to the discussion boards. Let us know if there is something in particular you want us to address or topics and technologies you might want to learn about.

If you need any help or would like to see something added, just let us know.

The more we all share, the more we all can learn. There is a wealth of resources here, and now you are a part of that too.
I am glad you joined us!

Hi Karen,

Welcome to the MSP2 community! So glad you've joined us.

Have you had a chance to explore the site, yet? You'll find lesson ideas, digital resources for classroom use, and connections to current news items. Look at the left side of the Main page and you'll find the MSP2 Resources box with Math and Science Resource Guides as well as information on Getting Grants and Teacher Opportunities. We hope that members of the network (like you) will help us add content to these pages. On the right side of the Main page we have our two project blogs - Resources for Math and Science and Connecting News. We also have a great Free technology for Teachers blog.

We have several webinars every month on a variety of topics - curricular topics, teaching strategies and technology tools for use in the classroom to name just a few. You can get to the archived recordings of those by clicking on the Webinar Archive link. You can also see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We also have a book club that meets periodically, check out the Book Club Group for more information on that.

We're also soon to be adding resources for youth - a series of virtual learning experiences for students. So plenty more to come!

Please send any ideas or feedback you have our way, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Sarita
