Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars
Welcome! I am excited to see you young teachers participating here. Your page by far is the most creative I have seen. When I accessed it, I said, "WHOA!" ;-)
Being a middle level teacher is a wonderful profession. After 36 years, I still can't imagine my life without middle level kids.
We hope you will participate here on the site. We who started teaching before technology was woven throughout teaching and learning have lots to learn from you.
Looking forward to seeing your comments.

Welcome, Katie,
I see that your methods class is all coming on board here. That's great! Even though joining MSP2 is part of the class, I encourage you to participate beyond the methods class expectations. Members, such as yourself--pre-service teachers--are a great resource to this community. You have a perspective that helps to keep us grounded, curious, and encouraged to continue to grow.
Hope to "hear" your voice on the site!
Again, welcome.

Hi Katie - Love what you have done with your page! I know I "made" you join but I hope this experience is a good one for you. I want you to be part of a professional community of educators that runs the gamut - preservice all the way to educators that have had 40 years of experience. I'm hoping that the community will share, create, and learn from each other.
I want to point out some resources that will be helpful as you do your work for 731.20 - look on the Main Page on the left side - MSP2 Resources box. There are science resource guides, Diigo lists, blogs, freeware/shareware pages, and the archived recordings of all of the webinars that we've had so far.
We have lots of upcoming webinars (ones sponsored by MSP2 and other organizations) - click on the Events tab to look at those.
We also have other Groups (click on the Groups tab) that you might be interested in joining (just a suggestion). You can always read the discussions/postings without joining.
I wanted to make sure that you realize that he Middle Childhood Science Methods Course group is a private group so all conversations that you have in that group will be only readable by your classmates. If you comment/post anywhere else on the site - it would be viewable by everyone. Just a heads up!
Looking forward to the rest of the quarter! Please feel free to email me or make an appointment if you have any questions or concerns. Regards, Dr. Lightle
