I don't know if you guys are looking for a registration management system, but I ran across this one the other day, and it looks great. http:www.oursciencefair.com. It seems to me that it would cut down on the paperwork process, and help the…

Hi Mary,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a mom, and not a teacher. We have four sons. I'm a writer, and my current project is science projects. I get Google alerts for blogs/news articles with the term "science fair", and scour them daily for ideas and topics. I ran across "oursciencefair" and just thought it was brilliant. When your forum entry showed up and I read the content, I posted about it. I also got some great insight into the teacher's perspective on the fair process - thank you very much!

I'd love to be able to contribute a parent's perspective to your discussions. We have four sons, with only one left in high school. But while they were in school, we had very close working relationships with their teachers. Our first three had ADHD Inattentive, and getting them through school was a joint effort - child, parent, teacher.

Thank God for teachers that saw them for the wonderful boys that they were, and helped them learn to find ways to focus and be organized and cope. If it weren't for some really terrific and patient teachers...who knows? Two of ours are in college, now - still struggling but succeeding - and one is doing very well in the Navy Our last one - thankfully he wasn't first - does it all on his own. (That's a sigh of relief you just heard.).

So, if you don't mind the participation of a non- teacher, I'd love to be able to share from my experiences where appropriate.

Welcome, Kayla, to MSP2.

Thank you, too, for sharing oursciencefair.com website.

Would you be willing to share a little more about yourself? For example...
- What is your role in middle grades education? In science or math education?
- What topics do you teach?
- What grades or age levels do you work with?
- Are you engaged in any other online professional learning communities?
- What technology tools for learning and teaching do you currently employ or are you interested in learning?

In the meantime, here are a few ideas to help you begin to explore the MSP2 site:

- There are several topic-focused groups. These are good places to ask questions and start discussions.
- The Science and Math Resource Guides are standards-based, quality resources that have been collected and/or written by expert, science and math educators. These guides are wiki pages, so you can add to, comment on, share your own resources.
- The Web Archive page links to recordings of the various online events we've held.

Again, thank you and welcome.

M
