The CSTA conference is coming up soon! Are you planning on going? I'll be there!
I am hoping to connect with some of my fellow MSP2 science teachers. Its always neat to put a real face with a name.
I love conferences like this. They are a great place to get inspired, find new lessons and resources, and network with peers. Unfortunately, not all of us have the resources to go. Time and money are obstacles we all need to deal with. Plus, most conferences are only offered once a year and we often need the connections, inspiration and resources throughout the year.
That is one of the benefits of online collaboration. You can connect when you have the time and don't have to worry about the cost to get there.
I am planning on sharing with the rest of MSP2 some of the great things I learn at the CSTA conference. If you go, maybe you can help me. And if you can't go, maybe will be able to find some good tidbits that I am able to bring back.
I hope you'll be there, but if not, I'll see you online.
Hi Kerri - Hope your summer is going well! I wanted to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.
We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim
Hi Kerri
Welcome to MSP2.
I hope your district and site is weathering California's budget well. If not, all the more reason for us to share what ideas and resources we have.
So, do you teach math? Science? Please introduce yourself and let us know what you are interested in. I encourage you to explore the site, join groups and discussions and meet some of your peers. We have many great resources here.
Let us know if you need help or if there is something you would like us to add.
toodles
Welcome, Kerri. I assume that's you in the lavendar field! One of my dreams is to have a small farm where I grow lavendar and raise goats and chickens. For now I live in the suburbs (but do have 2 laying hens in my yard!).
Anyway...welcome and thanks for joining us. Would you be willing to share a little bit more about yourself. What science topis you enjoy teaching? Types or resources you are eager to find? What you're hoping to gain from MSP2? What you'd like to contribute? Highlight from the year?
Hi Kerri - So glad you joined the MSP2 network. We're just getting started so any ideas or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! We've got lots of resources for middle school science teachers - look at the left side of the Main page - Science Publications, Diigo lists, and two project blogs - Connecting News to the National Science Education Standards and Exemplary Resources for Middle School Math and Science. Hope you get involved - your perspective (5 years in the classroom) would be really good - believe it or not there are lots of veteran teachers that are members! Welcome - Kim
PS - Love what you've done with your personal page.
