I did find that some of my students thought they were childish, at least initially. Although, I did find that some of those who vocalized that the books were childish were the ones most focused in on the reading. To address (at least partially) the…
Using literature in math has become one of my interests. Although I've never used the CYOA books, there are many other books that I have found that work for a variety of middle school topics. I have found that often when I read a book to my…

The opportunity to continue to grow professionally
One of the conversations the Teacher Leaders always have when we come together is "How do we get more people commenting and adding to the conversation here?"
What do you think? How can we get more comments?
We think the site will be more valuable when lots of people contribute? Do you think the general membership believes this?
You are an exceptional member. Most of the time we never hear back from folks we greet.
Welcome to MSP2! If you are interested, there are three places where you can immediately contribute to this site or take something away. Check out the discussions under forums - Cool Tech Tools, Tips for New Teachers and Science Content Knowledge. There is a great discussion about Integrating Technology, too.
Is there anything I can help you with right now regarding integrating technology?
Welcome to MSP2. Have you had a chance to explore the site much? Rebecca has pointed out several current happenings and conversations. In addition--
- The online Math Resources are standards-based resources. The resources are on wiki pages, so users can contribute to the content.
- There are several Groups, including a Math Group, to facilitate more targeted conversations.
- We promote and also facilitate webinars. Events are recorded and available for viewing afterwards, also.
- On April 13 we'll be hosting an online book discussion about Why Does e=mc2 (And Why We Should Care). I need to get my copy and start reading!
Please feel free to jump in, pose questions, join a discussion, share resources and ideas, and take part.
...another thing ....
Did you see the discussion in the forum on common state standards in math? i am sure you have information that can be used thee. Please contribute.
We are glad you found us!! When you used information your found in the publication to visit the site, why did you come? What were you hoping to find? Did you find the needed information? If not, please let me know. I'll try to help.
In order for the site to be the rich meeting space we envision, we need all our members to contribute.
You mention you would like to have help with integrating technology. Recently there have been some excellent discussions in the Forum. A new member - Richard Varner, a NASA education specialist, started a thread on integrating technology. Tom, one of the teacher leaders, posted the link to a TeacherTube video on teaching digital learners. It is a thought-provoking video. One thing I really like is that the video cites the sources of the information displayed.
Another discussion in the forum is about "Cool Tech Tools." Perhaps some of the posts there would be of interest. If you don't have the answers you need, either post a question to one of these threads - or start one of your own.
Did you check out the EVENTS yet? FREE (my favorite word) webinars are offered frequently. Also, near the top of the page on the left is a link to the ARCHIVES of previously held events.
In addition to contributing in ways mentioned above, if you have specific content or strategies you would like to share, either start a blog or forum thread on the topic.
If there is any way i can help you here on the site, please let me know.
