All of these suggestions have been helpful. I did get a Wordpress MU server up and running for my teachers this summer. So far it's working out well. We still need to do some inservice on the benefits of blogging and get some folks excited about it…

Kevin, I recommend starting at a couple of the dedicated classroom blogging services like EduBlogs, 21Classes, and David Warlick's Class Blogmeister. Once there you can search for blogs by grade level/subject and find some in various stages of the p…

Kevin, I am looking for ways to blog with my students. I would like the blog participants to be by invitation only, so that only my students would be using it. My school corporation is extremely paranoid about such things and would frown upon a publ…

How soon is your presentation? I have not used blogs much with my students, but I work with a history teacher who uses them frequently with eighth grade students. He has some amazing examples, since he has been doing it for several years. I believe…

Kevin - I was reading the May 2009 issue of Learning & Leading with Technology from ISTE last night and found a really good article that speaks to your question. The article is called Giving Reluctant Students a Voice. The article includes Online Fo…

a>Hi Kevin, This sounds like a great topic for an in-service course! We ran an article in the Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears magazine about educational blogging. I don't think we had many other management suggestions besides what you have described…

Personally, I would use Moodle. I'm sure Carmen is similar in function, but Moodle is free and growing in popularity every day. Moodle was actually developed by a group of professors in Great Britain because they were dissatisfied with the course ma…

I have looked at Moodle and it makes my head hurt to think how difficult it would be to get my district to get into it. Where do I start? Moodle is fairly easy to install. It generally requires the use of a Linux (LAMP) server, but has been success…

About Me

I am a veteran teacher of 19 years that moved over to the adminstrative side of the business 9 years ago. My teaching experience includes 16 years of teaching middle school science and 3 years of middle school technology. I have been the director of technology at my present position for the last 9 years. I enjoy what I do. I feel that I have a clear vision of the teaching and learning process, especially the role that technology can play in improving the way we teach.

Hi Kevin - Hope your summer is going well! I wanted to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon and share information about them with your colleagues.

We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim

Hi Kevin - MSP2 is an OSU project - we're are going to be running some focus groups this summer on campus - would you be interested in participating? We would probably meet for a couple of hours in the afternoon sometime during the week. Any particular day work best for you? We have incentives and would pay for your gas! Thanks for all your great posts. Kim

Hi Kevin - So glad you joined our middle school ning - what issues/discussions would you like to see happen? We have the Integrating Technology group and a Diigo Bookmark list called Wired World (see left - under Links section). We also have blog posts on integrating technology that you might find helpful (see right side - Resources for Math/Science). Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Cheers!
