Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other  content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars

Lesley,

Tom Jenkins, one of the MSP2 Teacher Leaders, has started a forum discussion on eTECH. Please consider sharing in the conversation.

Welcome to MSP2, Lesley,

I'm assuming you found out about MSP2 from the Ohio eTech conference? How has that event been? Good sessions? Feel free to share your experiences at the conference here on MSP2.

There are a number of teachers here who are new to the classroom (1-3 years). There are also a number of folks with considerable experience who have offered to assist new teachers. We don't have a group specifically for newer teachers, but if that would be of interest, let us know.

Karolee has done a great job of welcoming you and pointing out a few of the resources and sections on the site. Two other specific sets of resources you might be interested in, based on what you've said you could use help with are--
1. The discussion that occurred regarding science fairs
2. A webinar we held on lab safety

I hope you'll be willing to jump in, contribute, participate, share, start conversations. And let us know if there is anything in particular you're interested in or looking for.

Again, welcome.

Hi Lesley
Welcome to MSP2

Now that you are here with us, you can start to explore the site and look for opportunities to learn and share in this professional network.

Be sure to look at the resources on the home page. This will show some of the great tools on the NSDL site. There are several sites that can help you in lesson planning, educational strategies, or opportunities to access other resources.

To help connect with people with similar interests, you may want to join groups. Group discussion provide a place for you to share your ideas with others and have some of your own questions answered by your peers.

There are also events, like the Tech Talks, available. Tech Talks are recorded, so if you miss a one, you can check out the recorded session and add to the discussion boards.
Let us know if there is something in particular you want us to address or topics and technologies you might want to learn about.

If you need any help or would like to see something added, just let us know.

I am glad you joined us!
toodles
