Richard Batts replied to Mary Henton's discussion Cornell Notes and cells in the group ScienceMy role here at MSP2 is as co-principal investigator (co-PI) of the MSP2 project, along with Kim Lightle and Sarita Nair-Pillai. My career has been education, starting with teaching English and facilitating adventure-based counseling groups (Manchester, MA). After 9 years in the classroom and on the ropes course with kids, I worked for Project Adventure, as a facilitator, faculty developer, and curriculum developer. Life and career paths opened up the opportunity to work at the college level (faculty development, team building, student development) for a few years and sustain an independent consulting practice in team building, communications, and curriculum design. Eleven years ago I came on board at National Middle School Association, and have held a variety of positions here.
Outside of MSP2 I am engaged in work in the Democratic Republic of Congo through Congo Initiative and Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo.
Matters of sustainability, stewardship of natural resources, and social justice keep me energized, eager, and engaged in life!
