"  Mary,   We use Vernier Labquests in our building.  The flexibility that they offered sold us.  That being said...They were more expensive as compared to some of the others, so we had to buy fewer units.  Had them for 3…"

Any advice or recommendations on data collection tools (e.g., Vernier,  RED, or Log It) for middle school science, for labs in motion, force, pressure, and temperature? Should a teacher start with one kit to become familiar? Or with a classroom set and learn with the students?

Hello Mary,

Looks like you are a cross-country skier! Did you get in some good skiing this winter?

Since Kim has given you the summary of the MSP2 site and pointed out some of its features, I'll simply say, "Hello, glad to have you on board."

We look forward to seeing you here on the site and hope you'll feel free to jump in, post, comment, question, offer ideas and resources, and initiate conversation.

Hi Mary - Welcome aboard! I wanted to tell you a little about MSP2 - we are using this NING network as a place where educators can connect with each other (through answers to profile questions and the advanced Members search) and also as a way to connect educators with exemplary resources and professional development opportunities. Please check out our guide to Making the Most of MSP2.

If you look on the Main page - you'll see MSP2 resources in the upper left hand box - we have resource guides where we have sifted and sorted and contextualized resources on topics important to middle school math and science teachers, an archive of all of our past webinars, the ability to search the MSP2 collection, and pages of teacher and student opportunities and grants. Our newest resource guides are Teaching With Trade Books, Inquiry, Literacy and the Learning Cycle, and Reading 2.0. Hope you'll check them out!

Please don't hesitate to post a question or comment on a discussion or blog post. We are always looking for feedback and new ideas for PD opportunities and people who would like to present. I see what you are with an agency or association. What agency?

So glad you joined. Kim
