Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars
Hi Mel - Let me second Mary's welcome. In addition to our science resource guides, I wanted to point out that we've had some really good free webinars and have lots more on the schedule for the fall.
We've had four Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, Digital Storytelling, and Wikis. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. Hope you'll plan on attending.
Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Welcome – Kim
Cherlyn has a lot of friends here on MSP2! Do you all know each other, by any chance?
I see that you teach across several grades. Are you in a K-8 building?
You can see that I have lots of questions. If you'd be willing to share a little more about yourself, that would be great. For example: what science topics do you enjoy teaching? What science topics do you find most challenging to teach? Would you describe your school a bit? Is there a particular kind of support, resource, contribution you're interested in engaging here on MSP2?
If you haven't had a chance already, please check out the online science resource guides. They are a solid resource that we're continuing to grow. Since they are on a wiki platform, you can contribute directly to the content--comment, add resources, etc.
Again, welcome.
