Hi Ronald - So glad you joined the MSP2 network. I wanted to let you know that we've got lots of resources for middle school math and science educators - look at the left side of the Main page - Math and Science Resource Guides, Diigo lists, and project blogs where we highlight exemplary online math and science resources and the research that is going on at the polar regions.
We've had two Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks and one on Moodle in the Middle - hope you were able to make it the Moddle webinar. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Webinar Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next two are on Digital Storytelling and Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff!
Any ideas or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! I'm really glad you've already started participating - your perspective (3 years in the classroom) would be really good - believe it or not there are lots of veteran teachers that are members!
Glad to see that you're going to join the Moodle for Middle School Tech Talk on Wednesday. Should be an informative and helpful time.
Thanks for posting your question. It's an excellent one, and the kind of issue that MSP2 and this growing community can help address. Actually...if you don't mind, I'm going to post your question in three of the groups (math group, science group, integrating technology group) to solicit some responses to your question.
There is a range of knowledge and experience here at MSP2: folks with 1-2 years of teaching experience; folks with 25+ years; folks who are tech savvy and "bold explorers," others who are just beginning to explore how to use digital tools in the classroom; expert science educators; expert math educators. I hope that you'll find the kind of support you're looking for and also ways to contribute and support others.
I think that MSP2 should provide you with plenty of tech to keep the students busy and learning at the same time. After you've explored the portal a little, please feel free to share what you use in your class. Let us know if you have any questions.
Take care,
Tom
