Hi Sara - I wanted to second Mary's welcome and tell you about the resources we for middle school math and science educators - look at the left side of the Main page - Math and Science Resource Guides, Diigo lists, and project blogs where we highlight exemplary online math and science resources and the research that is going on at the polar regions.

In addition, I want to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.

We've had four Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, Digital Storytelling, and Wikis. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff!

Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Welcome – Kim

Great! Thanks for sharing. One of the things we've begun to explore is how schools and/or districts can use MSP2 for their benefit. We've had an initial meeting with a local school district who is very interested in figuring this out, and are scheduling a meeting with a principal of a private school in Georgia to talk about that later this week.

For example, a school or district could
- form a "group" here on the site to manage their conversations.
- request an online professional development sessions(s) specific for their needs (either in regards to technology tools or specific math or science content)
- use this site to host their own online professional development sessions
- identify specific math and/or science resources that are here that match their curriculum, and customize those resources for their own use.

If you're interested in exploring any of these ideas (or others), please let me know.

Also....keep in mind that the site is a great way for your school/district to showcase its work--either through blogging about it, presenting a webinar, posting resources, etc.

Welcome, Sara,

I see Cherlyn is your friend. Is she the one who told you about MSP2? I hope that you will find her recommendation worthwhile!

Would you share a little bit about yourself? What is your role in regards to middle grades education? Science and/or math education? Do you belong to any other online professional learning communities? Is there something specific you're looking to gain from MSP2? Is there a way that you'd like to contribute and participate?

Again, welcome.

M
