You are not alone in having overly cautious administrators. This place is a good resource for ideas, strategies, and resources to influence people to think differently.
Please, if there are specific questions or issues you'd like to get some support around, feel free to post the question or send it to me or one of the teacher leaders.
I LOVE the idea about using the picture of the day!! Would you be willing to share that idea on MSP2? Say on the Forum section. Might be interesting to start some discussion or brainstorming about "the picture of the day." If you're not comfortable sharing, I'd be willing to post on your behalf, and say something like, "One of our MSP2 members recently shared that she..." Let me know.

Welcome, Stacey, to MSP2. Did you find out about us at the NMSA Annual Conference? If so, would you be willing to share a little bit about your experience there?
Also, I'd love to know something about your school or teaching situation. For example, If you haven't had a chance to explore much on the site, here are a couple of places that you might be interested to sus out:
1. The Math and Science Resource Guides are standards-based, quality resources either written or gathered by expert math and science educators.
2. We've had a number of Webinars on a variety of topics over the past month. The recordings and related materials are found in the Archive Page. Given that you indicated you "need help with" managing labs, you might find the Laboratory Safety one of special interest.
Please feel free to jump in, post comments, ask questions, share resources, suggest topics for discussion or Webinars. The portal exists to serve the community of middle grades STEM educators!
Again, welcome,
M
