Hope you join us online this Thursday, 1/13 at 4pm EST as we explore how reader's theater can be used to improve comprehension of informational text and help students learn science concepts. We'll focus on science-themed text, but the same principles can apply to other  content areas as well. You can find the link to participate, the descriptions, and archived recordings of all the webinars at http://wiki.nsdl.org/index.php/BeyondPenguins/Seminars

Hi Stephen - So glad you joined the MSP2 network - let me second Mary's welcome. I see that you checked "Other" - what other are you? Knowing all the ways that our members are involved in education helps us get closer to meeting the needs of our audience. It would be great on your My Page if you would add a short bio in your Text Box.

In any case, I want to point out that we've got lots of resources for middle school science educators - look at the left side of the Main page - Math and Science Resource Guides, Diigo lists, and project blogs where we highlight exemplary online math and science resources and the research that is going on at the polar regions.

In addition, I want to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.

We've had four Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, Digital Storytelling, and Wikis. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff!

I see that you clicked on elementary too - we have another project that might be worthwhile for you to check out - Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears - Integrating Literacy and Science for K-5 Teachers.

Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Welcome – Kim

Welcome, Stephen! I see that you're friends with Cheryln. Do you or have your worked together?

I see that your work runs the K-12 gamut. Would you be willing to share a little bit about just what you do? Actually, you can add information in the "text box" on your home page, if you'd like.

Some specific questions I have are the following:
1. What prompted you to join MSP2?
2. Do you belong to any other online professional learning communities?
3. What would you like to do, find, contribute on this space and with this community?

Please feel free to jump in, comment, post, share resources, ask questions. The activity is growing, as is the community.

Again, welcome.

M
