Hi Tam - It would be great if you go back into your profile and answer two additional questions that we just added - I need help with and I can help with. We want people to be able to search by those parameters.
In addition, we've just started a book club - the fall book is Omnivore's Dilemma - it would be great if you joined in. Welcome! Kim
Hi, Tam,
Thanks for sharing. You have a LOT to offer this community!!! I see you've joined the math and science groups. There is also an Integrating Technology group that has a couple of discussions going, including one on freeware and shareware
Interesting your comment about loving to teach but hating marking. There was some exchange about homework and grading earlier this summer that touched on the issues of grading.
Please let us know how you'd like to get involved here.
Hi Tam - Let me second Mary's welcome. In addition to our resource guides (linked in the MSP2 Resources box on the Main page) we have Diigo lists and project blogs where we highlight exemplary online math and science resources and the research that is going on at the polar regions.
You'll also see that we have some links in the MSP2 Resources box called Getting Funding, Favorite Blogs, and Freeware/Shareware. We hope that members of the network will help us add content to these pages.
In addition, I want to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon. (Mary mentioned the one coming up on Sept. 9)
We've had four Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, Digital Storytelling, and Wikis. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.
You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff!
Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Welcome – Kim
Thank you for joining us here on MSP2. There are a couple of Aussies on the site, including Russel Montgomery, also from Perth. I had the privilege of being in Perth for a couple of days about 12-13 years ago. I loved it! The sky. The sea. The brilliant blue. Actually, I loved all of the places I visited in Australia.
OK...but this note is about you! Would you be willing to share some more about yourself and your school? What other disciplines besides math and science do you teach? What do you enjoy most about teaching? About teaching in the middle grades? What digital tools do you use or are you interested in using in your classroom? Do you participate in any other online learning communities?
If you haven't had a chance to explore the site, at least check out the math and science online resources. These are the foundation of the project, actually. These resources are quality resources, including standards-based lessons, and digital content for teaching and learning.
Kim Lightle, MSP2 project leader, will be doing a Webinar September 9 that will be a sort of "walk around the block" of the site. The session will also look at how to maximize MSP2 for one's professional learning.
Please feel free to jump into the activity here. Comment, ask a question, share some resources, join any of the conversations, write a blog post. The more that members engage, the better for all.
Again, welcome.
