Thanks Tom. I cover the Michigan GLCE's very specifically throughout the year. So, since it is extremely important to tie in the tech, and I have the means...this year is a year of turning and learning! So to begin I am starting off with life scienc…

I teach 6th grade science in Michigan. I'm looking to have my students complete a project each month including some form of technology. I have a few already in place. If anyone has any ideas, please share them!

This is a great idea. Maybe something worth sharing within the Integrating Technology group? See what experiences and ideas others may have?

Hi, Tammy,
Not to worry about the delay in responding! Glad you're having a great summer, and hope that you're looking forward to a great school year ahead.

Sure makes sense for kids to use PowerPoint rather than the tri-fold board for a science fair!! Was that a difficult transition? Are you seeing other schools moving to that kind of presentation?

There are some great physical science resources here on MSP2. I don't know if you've had a chance to look at them. There is one on Energy Transfer, another one called, Chemistry: Making it Real, and a "Get Moving with Simple Machines."

These resources are trustworthy. They are part of the National Science Digital Library and gleaned and/or created by science educators.

Please feel free to let anyone here on the site know what we can do to help and support you.

Hi Tammy - Hope your summer is going well! I wanted to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.

We've had three Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, and Digital Storytelling. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. The next TechTalk topic is Using Wikis. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff! Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Kim

Hi Tammy, I also teach science in Michigan and am trying to write a new curriculum for the new GLCEs. I teach 7th grade science. Do you teach only 6th or do you teach any 7th?
I just finished a workshop and someone suggested a quiz generator site from the UK. One I found on there is "Fling the teacher." I am going to have the students create a quiz game on the site as a review. Here is the website http:/http://contentgenerator.net/fling/default.shtml. You have to join the forum, but then some of the quiz generators are free.

Welcome, Tammy, We're glad to have you on board here at MSP2. Glad to see that you've joined the Science group, as well.

Would you be willing to share a little bit more about your classes, students, and ideas for the upcoming year? What are some of the outcomes and goals you have for your students? Knowing that will help us give you ideas. For example, if you want them to develop collaboration skills, then things like wikis might be an appropriate tool. If you're looking to integrate vocabulary development, then maybe students might benefit from creating digital stories or developing podcast mini-lessons.

Any context and parameters you can provide will help us to help you!

Thanks again for joining!

Hello Tammy,

It's nice have another person from our region on board. Was there any specific topic that you wanted to cover? If you look back through the past blogs you can find a starting point for many topics- CSI, Polar Science, Geocaching, and Scratch Animation to name a few. I think all of those including others would fit your needs. If you have an interest in learning more- Just let us know. And by all means, feel free to share your favorite activites!

Take Care,
Tom
