Welcome to MSP2! If you are interested, there are three places where you can immediately contribute to this site or take something away. Check out the discussions under forums - Cool Tech Tools, Tips for New Teachers and Science Content Knowledge. There is a great discussion about Integrating Technology, too.
Is there anything I can help you with right now regarding integrating technology?
What is one tip you have for surviving being a new teacher? Please reply to this comment or post under forums "Tips for New Teachers".
Do you have a favorite resource for lessons, videos, or content material for your classroom? Please reply to this comment or post under forums "Science Content Knowledge".
Welcome to MSP2!
There are all kinds of opportunities to learn and share in this professional network. Have you had a chance to explore the site yet? There are many parts to the site, so its worth taking a little time to dabble around. From the links on the NSDL site, to the groups and forums, there are many ways to find something new and to share the tried-and-true.
You might want to connect with people with similar interests. The easy way is to join groups. Group discussion provide a place for you to share your ideas with others and have some of your own questions answered by your peers. As a science teacher, do you do a science fair? I would love to hear more thoughts on science fairs.
There are also events, like the Tech Talks, available. Each Tech Talk takes a different tool or strategy. Its a great place to get an introduction to new ways to integrate technology into the class. Tech Talks are recorded, so if you miss a one, you can check out the recorded session and add to the discussion boards.
Let us know if there is something in particular you want us to address or topics and technologies you might want to learn about.
If you need any help or would like to see something added, just let us know.
I am glad you joined us!
Hi Tracie - So glad you decided to join MSP2! We are using this NING network as a place where educators can connect with each other (through answers to profile questions and the advanced Members search) and also as a way to connect educators with exemplary resources and professional development opportunities.
If you look on the Main page - you'll see MSP2 resources in the upper left hand box - we have resource guides where we have sifted and sorted and contextualized resources on topics important to middle school math and science teachers, an archive of all of our past webinars, the ability to search the MSP2 collection, and pages of teacher opportunities and grants.
We have have on the right side of the page our two project blogs - Resources for Math and Science and Connecting News. We also RSS feed the Teach Engineering blog and two NYT blog feeds.
You can see a list of all the MSP2 events and others that we think would be of interest to our audience under the Events tab. Next week there is a webinar specifically for math teachers. We have groups - including a book club - and lots of conversations!
Please don't hesitate to post a question or comment. We are always looking for feedback and new ideas for PD opportunities and people who would like to present. So glad you joined - Kim
PS - I see that you are friends with Steve - he has been a great friend of MSP2!
