Middle School Portal

the network for middle school math and science teachers

On September 16th, I moderated a Tech Talk on the use of Interactive Whiteboards in the classroom. During the session, we had 11 attendees and we discussed some basic strategies for implementing Interactive Whiteboards into the middle school math and science classrooms. Many of the attendees were already IWB users and shared some of their experiences with the group. The session lasted approximately 45 minutes and the recording of the Elluminate session is available below as are the slides from the session.

I also created a ShareTab of the links that I used during the session. Those are available here:

I have just begun using an IWB for professional development for math teachers, since almost all our middle and high school math teachers have IWBs. It is so much fun and student engagement is so much greater.

I just read a post by Mrs. Nader - 5th grade teacher on the MiddleTalk listserv - she uses her Smartboard this way: What a great idea!

I have a smart board that has balloons projected on it. Inside each balloon is a student name. They come in, get their text off the cart and 'pop' their balloon. Fun for them but helps me take attendance.
